Welcome to the new website of the Llandeilo Arts Trail, formerly Tywi Valley Open Studios. We may have a new name, but it is still the same exciting event: from 25th July until the 2nd August, a group of artists and makers, all living within 15 mile radius of Llandeilo, opening their studios to the public, transforming the area into one of Wales’ most vibrant arts destinations. It’s a fantastic opportunity to meet the artists in person, to see their art, take part in workshops and even purchase a piece of original work to take home with you.

This is an immersive, behind-the-scenes arts trail that offers rare insight into how art is made – from the first sketch or coil of clay to the final finished piece. Over nine inspiring days, you can step inside working studios, watch live demonstrations, and meet the artists face-to-face. Whether you’re curious about painting, textiles, ceramics, woodwork, printmaking, metal working or sculpture, the trail offers something for every art lover.

Many of the studios are nestled in tucked-away barns, garden outbuildings or homes, and each one reflects the spirit of the valley itself – full of creativity, resourcefulness and quiet beauty. You’ll meet artists who are passionate about their materials, their landscapes and their processes, and many are more than happy to talk about their techniques, inspiration and daily working life. Some studios will also be running hands-on taster sessions or informal workshops, which means you can roll up your sleeves and have a go yourself.

Llandeilo Arts Trail is an exciting and low-cost day out that sparks curiosity and creativity in children and adults alike. For collectors, it’s a chance to find one-of-a-kind pieces and buy directly from the maker. For locals and visitors, it’s simply a joyful celebration of talent rooted in the Carmarthenshire landscape.

There is a handy brochure to support the event – available online or at local outlets – to help you plan your day and even create mini trails of your own. Each studio has its own profile and opening times listed, and while most are open daily during the event, some may have slight variations, so it’s worth double-checking before you set off.

Follow along on social media for highlights and updates in the run-up to and throughout the event. You’ll also find details of which artists are offering demonstrations or workshops.
