Whilst at school in Karnal I entered many clay modelling and painting competitions, from which I won a state-level scholarship, and later on, a scholarship to study Fine Art at the College of Fine Arts in Chandigarh 1986-1990, where I majored in portrait painting.
Growing up in Calcutta, I was surrounded by the creativity of the sculptors and painters of West Bengal, which strongly influenced my art.
After university I worked as a children’s book illustrator at the Asian Publishing Company in Delhi, then taught art in an International Public School – Dharmsala India in 1993.
Having moved from India to Australia then to the UK in 1997, I ran Artistic Visions, a design, print and exhibition stand-building business in London.
Whilst having a retail shop for our business, I started an Art Cafe where I taught oil painting to many local students, up to 2020.
I have also taught oil painting at a summer school type arts academy in upstate New York in 2017, 2018 and 2019.
Now I live in Wales and am planning to start oil painting classes from my art barn very soon!

We are just off the lay-by at Llanwrda.
Coming from Llandeilo on the A40, look out for the sign for Llanwrda (before the village) and turn right into the lay-by, when you reach the lane, we’re the first property. From Llandovery, go past the left turn to Llanwrda station, and take the next left into the layby
